INTERIOR DESIGN FOR SINALI WITH ON SITE CO-ORDINATION

SINALI FOREST LODGE

The primary architectural challenge of the project was to understand the spatial requirements and user experience of tourists while creating a retreat that remains deeply connected to nature. The design emphasizes open, interactive, and community-oriented spaces through gathering areas, viewing decks, and semi-open common spaces integrated with the surrounding river landscape.

Material selection was guided by regional availability and climatic response, with the use of locally sourced stone from Rajasthan and timber elements procured from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The project minimizes the use of concrete, instead adopting lightweight construction techniques and natural materials to maintain ecological sensitivity and blend seamlessly with the site context.

The Riverfront Forest Lodge, designed with a focus on facilitating research endeavors, offers a unique and conducive environment for scientists, researchers, and wildlife enthusiasts seeking to explore the ecological intricacies of Kanha National Park. Situated along the banks of Banjar River within the park, this lodge provides an ideal base for conducting comprehensive research on biodiversity, ecosystems, and conservation.
"Symbiotic Retreats" this concept combines ecological thinking with clever design. This research focuses on the technical side of Symbiotic Retreats, especially in creating a "Sustainable Riverfront Forest Lodge."

Selected Projects & Technical Production Work

Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India — 2025 Housing & Settlement Pattern Analysis

The Jaisalmer study focused on understanding housing characteristics, settlement conditions, and urban growth patterns through GIS-based spatial analysis to support context-responsive planning and infrastructure development. The project aimed to evaluate residential conditions and identify spatial trends influencing livability, density, and urban expansion within the city.

The analysis included thematic mapping of housing-related indicators such as congestion factor, building condition, housing age, and structure typology to assess settlement quality and physical development patterns. By integrating these spatial datasets, the study identified areas requiring infrastructure improvement, redevelopment attention, and planning interventions while recognizing the unique climatic and urban context of Jaisalmer.

The project supports evidence-based housing and urban planning by enabling better understanding of settlement dynamics, infrastructure demand, residential vulnerability, and neighborhood-level planning strategies for sustainable urban development.

Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh,2024

GIS-Based Terrain, Hazard & Hydrological Analysis

The Dharamshala study focused on understanding the complex hill terrain, hydrological systems, and environmental vulnerabilities of the region through GIS-based spatial analysis. Due to the mountainous topography and increasing urban pressure, the project aimed to assess terrain behavior, water movement, and landslide-sensitive zones to support safer and more informed planning interventions.

The analysis involved thematic mapping including water flow direction, aspect, contour patterns, and landslide susceptibility points to evaluate slope conditions, drainage behavior, and hazard-prone areas. Spatial datasets were integrated to identify environmentally sensitive zones, infrastructure constraints, and development opportunities while considering the unique geographic conditions of the Himalayan landscape.

The study supports resilient urban and infrastructure planning by enabling hazard-sensitive development, improved land-use decision-making, environmental conservation, and terrain-responsive planning strategies for rapidly growing hill settlements.
